The Ruby Sanctum loot list is up and I can honestly say that I am underwhelmed. How underwhelmed? More underwhelmed than a troop of boy scouts being given a single badge? More underwhelmed than being told by your boss that your expected pay rise has been deferred until 2020? More underwhelmed than a hooker being told that she’s a pretty good lay? Yes, more underwhelmed than all of those.
We have in 10 man loot a chest, a ring and a neck piece. In 25 man loot we have some armbands, the same ring and neck and a trinket. Well, whoopee fucking poopee. Would it be too much to ask for some fucking weapons? Like some daggers? Or how about some cool stuff that we can’t get from badges, like some boots? Those would be nice. Nope, none of the above.
“But we get a trinket!”, I hear you say. Have you seen the stats on that trinket? Armor penetration and attack power. And what 2 stats are going the way of the dodo in Cataclysm? Lets see … having a look here … hmmm …
Armor penetration and attack power. So you tell me what the fuck is going on and I’ll give you a few more scout badges.

I wholeheartedly agree with you.
As a 10 man raider I was looking to “cool loot table rivalling with the one of the Lich King” and not “shard fodder because badge stuff is better”. No, seriously? Who needs some level 258 glove when you have plenty of 264 ones from frost badges?
Icc10 has no healer offhand, and even for casters that single one existing is poo. Of course, no offhand in ruby sanctum.
Trinkets? Only on the effing 25 man… While all casters in my guild are yearning for some good trinket, because they have NOTHING to pair with Muradin Spyglass. The frost badge one? Yeah because cloth / staves have so much hit they’re like overcapped twice, so let’s make highest tier badge trinket contain hit rating! Toc10 trinket for casters was total poo as well. So unless they go and pug toc25 / icc25 and actually win something, they have nothing to go for, whole full tier.
Weapons for casters are a problem as well. You have the problem daggers in Icc10 are buried on the “non puggable” bosses. Casters have problem there’s a ton of weapons but until Lich King himself they can’t find any which wouldn’t sport ridiculous tons of hit rating or subpar manaregen stats (aka healer weapon).
Why would anyone put on Halion loot table YET ANOTHER chestpiece or glove? Seriously, you can get t10, you can get 264 one from frost badges, so 3rd one??
Where’s the “fun” they promised us in the loot table, on 10 man I’d be happy to see trinkets, offhand, maybe some weapons, maybe a bracer, maybe some necklaces and rings, maybe shields for those unlucky with icc drops, maybe helmet as you usually are stuck with t10… but last one not crucial. Why put anything else there??? Is anyone in this game thinking at all? If yes, are they just THAT cruel?
Well, they CAN think, Lich King proves that as they put only weapons there (no fluff rubbish), and most of them sporting the best stats for the most common specs using those weapons, they even updated the staff and dagger I think to be more useful for casters (yay finally, because I surely don’t need 600 hit rating as a caster).
So what moron designed Halion’s loot table, across all my 5 chars maybe 1 would want anything from there (resto Shaman – the cloak, as haste is better than crit from badge one), for the rest it’s going to be another VoA “2 more badges per week… as well, cba, I can run daily heroic instead”.
No, I stopped counting on VoA drops.
P.S. Did you check leatherworking boots made with primordial saronites? Are they any good for Rogues? That came to my mind when you asked why there are no boots in Ruby Sanctum.

I agree with you that 10-man have very bad itemization, and that Halion should at least make up with trinkets, off-hand and accessories but… weapons? Really? And you argument for more weapons is that your BiS in on “non-puggable” bosses? So you’re not a 10-man guild, you are only 10 noobs QQ’ing for free gear. ¬¬

I’d like to inform you that Ruby Sanctum is Onyxia 2.0. It’s NOT a progression instance, it’s a “fun place” for “fun ppl”. It’s somewhere the M&S can go who can’t kite an ooze, can’t kick a kinetic ball and believe that Sister Savala is the Lich King herself!

didnt think of that… niceone!

Given the current state of unobtainable daggers vs the incredible ease of getting Combat weapons, and Blizzard even acknowledging that issue at one point, I’d like to have seen at least a few weapons drop in Ruby Sanctum, even if they were poorly itemized.
June 21, 2010 at 1:07 pm
For me the issues isn’t that the bosses are not killable, it’s just that the bloody daggers won’t drop. It’s like that goddamn Lungbreaker doesn’t exist, and the offhand from heroic Putricide 10 isn’t exactly thrilled about dropping either. Sigh.
June 22, 2010 at 9:10 pm
yeah man tell me about it, i got ribspreader off of rotface after a few runs but lungbreaker took me like 2 – 2 1/2 months to get to drop, which i won and got last week but blizz definately needs to increase the drop rate of daggers in their raids

Eh, I wouldn’t be too worried about the disappearing AP and ARP. I’m not worried at all and I’m combat/all ARP. I highly doubt when Blizzard removes ARP/AP, all pieces of gear with those stats on it are just going to have blank spaces and missing itemization points. Hell, when they re-itemize ARP gear due to the removal of ARP it might even make that new trinket useful for both rogue specs while leveling in Cata!
And when it comes to the boots, the only real boots comparable to the crafted ones are the ARP boots from Marrowgar 25. As mutilate it seems like Blizzard intended for you to wear the crafted boots and wear other pieces of non-expertise gear instead.
I have to agree about the lack of easily obtainable daggers, but from Blizzard’s point of view I can see why. I like combat and I love getting new weapons, but it’s kind of ridiculous how many combat weapons there are. Although to be fair, it only seems like there are a lot of combat weapons because combat shares 1h weapons with enhancement shamans and 1h frost DKs, whereas mutilate rogues are the only class/spec that would normally use daggers (remember that whole “we want to have a reason to drop more enhancement shaman weapons, so we’re making them usable to rogues too” thing?). Meh, I’d also prefer if they would have made 2 sets of rogue tier as well: with arp/extra hit for combat and without arp/with extra expertise for mutilate.
Oh well. Even though there’s some glaringly obvious mistakes in itemization and gear planning Blizzard has come a long way from putting spirit on plate like they used to in vanilla. >.>

“Umbrage Armbands” from the 25 man have some nice stats and not armour pen.
Not that I disagree with you though, it is a all bit meh…

Nicish hunter neck on ten man, nice hunter boots on 25 man and a trinket that is basically an upgraded banner of victory. Nothing to get excited about for us either. I wont be farming it.
June 20, 2010 at 12:36 am
That’s not a hunter neck in 10man. That’s a rogue neck. Expertise is complete useless to a hunter. Hunters have nothing in 10man. There’s not even a single piece of mail.
June 20, 2010 at 12:42 am
Nevermind. Wowhead’s loot table is slightly less complete than MMO-Champions as of right now. Tasty hunter shoulders in 10man. IGNORE MEEE!

Obviously the game in it’s current state is centered around 25-man progression raids and ICC-25 has nice and easy dagger drops for mutilate rogue. I’m fully aware that Gankers can’t afford 25-man runs yet, but it’s not the Blizzard’s fault. Ask Gevlon what was he thinking about when chose Maghteridon alliance for PvP guild 🙂
I still think we will be able to organize 25-man ICC group some time, with 20% buff Lady D and even Rot are pretty much puggable. As for Ruby Sanctum loot table, don’t you think that 271/258 ilvl daggers would be too big of a free load for “fun ppl” running easymode boss?
June 29, 2010 at 10:09 pm
I don’t think anyone wants to give big loots to crappy casual (aside from the crappy casual players themselves) players, but maybe a more serious raid with more serious loot would have been a better option altogether. Of course H versions will most likely be readily available to raiders with some skill, but the poor itemization across the board makes it kind of a disappointment.
