I tried to do the new Operation Gnomergaden, (OG from now on as I’m not spelling that out incorrectly every bloody time). I wasn’t able to complete it for the simple reason that it is bugged. Apparently if you go into the tunnel, (or even just make a step in front of the gnome boss leading it), then it all shuts down and disengages. Not immediately though, you have to stand around for about 10 minutes before the gnome dude decides to start it all up again. I tried to do it three times before I gave up. In the last two tries I warned everyone that there is a bug, explained how to avoid it, and watched someone do the opposite as soon as we got to the mouth of the tunnel. So I gave up. I haven’t completed it and I don’t know if I will try again. If this is the standard for how Cataclysm will be, then I’m kind of lost for words. How can they have this bug so badly? It is as lame as shit.
The other thing that I noticed was the amount of gold that you get from these “quests”, (I’m sorry but I don’t really count having to go and talk to a dude standing 10 meters away from where you presently are as a quest. A conversation maybe?) Go and give that guy just over there this piece of paper. Zing! 20 gold. Okay, go back to the guy that told you to give me the piece of paper and tell him that it’s good. Zing! Another 18 gold. After a short time I had the unpleasant feeling that I was just being bribed to do this. The quests are stupid, in a childish ten year old kind of way, (seriously, I have to go and do a bunch of emotes to get into the gnome army? I can see that being an effective appraisal of my skills that I’ve worked on for the past 4 fucking years), the battle sequence is far from understandable and resounds with the high pitched squealings of the gnome king dude, and of course it’s badly bugged. Maybe it gets better the further you get into the city, but I wouldn’t know that, would I, seeing as I couldn’t get into the fucking place.
This is the first new content that we have had since the awful Ruby Sanctum. I haven’t done the troll one as I don’t have a level 80 horde toon, but I’ve heard that you have to help the trolls in their epic quest to retake their homeland and finally find a place for themselves in the grand scheme of things by … collecting frogs. Well that’s pretty fucking epic, isn’t it.

I liked it. It was good fun humor, i loved the background music and i loved the dialog. The quests were fun and simple and not annoying.
As for the bug, we did it at day one and actually had people going soo deep in the tunnel they were dying because they got out range of the buff, but nothing bugged. I guess it’s either not all the time or it somehow got introduced later.

lmao, the troll islands is kinda cool. very pointless, but cool if your into the whole lore thing. Its nice to have something new to do while listening to people on guild chat tell me how ace cata beta is and how they are SOOOO gonna be a fire mage in the new game.
Meantime i was seriously considering not buying it (cata) so I didnt get fucked over with the stupid new hunter changes….
ya, I am fucked any which way cos they are bringing the changes to me in the new patch (4.0) and theres nothing I can do about it. My hunters fucked, good job my shammies 80 now and I can raid with that from now on.

WoW is crawling with bugs, what you describe is just more of what I’ve seen myself. I think Cataclysm will be more of what we’ve seen in Wrath of the Lich King.
For instance:
-The King in UP walks with his legs in the floor (you only see his waist and up) when he’s moving from one boat to the other.
-Endboss in pits of saron bug. (despawns if attacked too soon)
-3rd boss in Grundrak (the one that has the achievement if you kill him without transforming into mammoth) randomly despawned while everybody was attacking him (this was two days ago).
-When flying your mount has the animation for standing still on the ground half the time.
-Yesterday Syndragosa moved thru a gate as we were moving back to make it despawn. Rotface and Fester also have the habit of moving through gates (like when someone ninja pulls, but half the raid makes it back out of the room).
-Lifts in Undercity. Sometimes you’re going up and when 75% up you suddenly fall through the lift.
-Dalaran flight master. About 25% of the time when I move there on ground mount I cant get on my flying mount, have to go back into dalaran and back to flight master before I can get on flying mount.
This is just from the top of my head. Most of these bugs are not severe, but also most of them have been around for ages, with the newer bugs being more severe then the earlier bugs (under severe I count the endboss of PoS and despawning of that Gundrak boss).

I’ve slowly been working my way through them for the gold on my alliance chars
Did the horde one on my only horde toon and it’s a little pointless. Wow – all of us 80s killed that guy you killed at level 10 on that stupid island. Was pretty underwhelmed but then again I’ve always disliked the troll lore.
Didn’t mind the Gnome one. I’ve only had it bug out once. I tend to do the last bit seperately later on which means theres no retards around to bug it. The gold is nice, it shall probably pay for the last few primordials for another shadows edge.

I did it first day when it came out, first part went fine, when the “bomb” is about to go boom someone rang at the door and I had to go afk, when I came back my toon was in Ironforge with quest completed. So no bugs occurred I guess. More important thing is that “bribe” you mentioned. When i was leveling my first toon I never had more than 5-6g. Most new players are in same position since they don’t know AH possibilities and are not aware about value that they carry in their bags. When lvl70 friend came once to Southshore where I was questing and traded me 20g I felt like I can buy whole world (of Warcraft). Now, two quests that takes no more than 2 minutes give you 38 gold, there are more, I wasn’t paying attention but I’m sure that there were few quests that rewards with 6 or so gold in that questline.

P.S.
I just hope that rewards for lower level players is reduced, if not that would be second worst disappointment since I realized that mobs in Northshire vineyard are no more aggressive.

I found GO to be very much in line with Blizzards usual humour and ridiculousness, especially with gnomes. The last battle was as I expected however the pre-quest for it were disappointing in comparison. You’re supposed to prepare for and you use 3 quest to test the ejection seat, the mobility and the weapons of a battletank(name?). It would have made more sense to put those in one quest and then have the other two involving using the battletanks to secure a forward base from where the main battle would be initiated.

hmmm I wish the comments here could be edited… or maybe I should just learn to read it before posting.

Don’t dis the frogs. Let me tell you, when a troll wants frogs, she wants frogs for something important. Frogs are serious business for trolls.
September 17, 2010 at 2:56 pm
You’re description of the quests doesn’t entice me to try them but it did make me laugh, excellent.
On the other hand, if I suspend all incredulity at their ridiculous lack of imagination (and the bugs of course) 20g a pop sounds inviting.

Are you suggesting that the new quest chain should have been more “epic” like the AQ gates opening chain? That certainly sorted out the men from the boys between servers.
Although clearly Blizz will not repeat that epic grind I do have fond memories of all those AQ world bosses in different zones & the pvp that came with them. Although it was a huge lagfest on my server that day.
September 17, 2010 at 4:39 pm
No, not epic like AQ. But not lame like we’re playing a fucking jizzed up pokomon version of WoW. These two events could have been really brilliant in a dark, dangerous way. Instead it’s a load of bubblegum wrapped shitness.

“Bubblegum-wrapped shitness”
Remembering this one for use in raid: “Man, your [insert role] was some bubblegum-wrapped shitness. L2PLAY NUBCAEK!”
=)
Kidding aside, when I read that letter in my in-game mailbox (I dare not try to quote it, but something along the “gathering the masses for invasion” of the Echo Isles – I play Horde), I thought we were in for something akin to Gates of Ahn’Qiraj without faction competition (since Alliance has Gnomifuckilicious to reclaim) and on a smaller scale, maybe lasting a couple weeks altogether.
What we got: it was nice. It could have been so much more. It wasn’t terrible. It was just… nice. (The tone is meant to seem underwhelmed)
September 17, 2010 at 8:47 pm
You get the generic quest reward for your level. So… if you do them at 80, you get 20 gold. If you do them at level 10, you get some silver.
For all you whiners… if the game sucks so bad, cancel your freakin’ account and quit playing. You don’t HAVE to play WoW, you know.
September 17, 2010 at 9:54 pm
You can’t do these quests if you’re below level 75. And by the way, you don’t HAVE TO read my blog, you know.
September 17, 2010 at 11:35 pm
You can do the first silly ones on a low lvl toon, below 75. I did them on my levl 43 warrior.
I thought they were funny, easy gold, I did get alot less on my warrior then I did on my lvl 80 rogue.
No glitches for me, but it was annoying to wait 10 minutes for the general to show up and lead you into the city.
September 18, 2010 at 3:49 am
Up to the first reward, the quests only require you be level 5. Afterwards it jumps to 75.
